PILA helps develop and assess complex competencies (e.g. computational thinking and self-regulated learning) with engaging, interactive environments.

PILA's interactive continuous learning and assessment activities target 21st century competences. By gathering data on students’ actions in highly interactive digital environments, PILA can help teachers make sense of not only what they know, but also how they use their knowledge to develop solutions to everyday problems.

The Betty's Brain application aims to develop and assess students' causal reasoning, systems thinking and self-regulated learning skills. Students create a causal map based on learning resources to teach a virtual agent, Betty, about complex phenomena.

Receiving real-time information on how students learn and solve complex problems can help teachers intervene in the learning process when students need it most.

There are several activity customisers available on PILA. Each one is set in an engaging, interactive environment to collect information on how students learn and apply complex skills, such as computational problem solving and self-regulated learning. Teachers can design the activity, draft instructions and create resources to help students make progress. Play the video to find out more!

With the PILA Sequence Builder, teachers can assemble any of the individual activities available in PILA into a customised sequence to assign immediately to students. This tool helps teachers personalise learning and assessment for their students and receive the information they need to help move their students' learning forward.
